Peanut M&M Bars

With all of the candy around this time of year (plus my love for M&Ms), this was a perfect treat to make. Bar cookies are so fast, which is always a plus. What's your favorite Halloween candy?
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup butter or margarine softened
1 cup shortening
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 eggs
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups peanut M&Ms
Instructions
Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, beat sugars, butter, shortening, vanilla and eggs with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon, until well blended. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in peanut  M&Ms.
Spoon dough into a 9x9 baking pan sprayed with cooking spray.
Bake for 20 minutes. Cool completely.
Yields 16 bars

  1. oooooh yummy! I bought some peanut M&Ms when I was in the US last month, as I don't think you can get them in the UK (?) and have just been eating them straight from the packet as they are so nice! But I really think I'm going to have to make this recipe!

  2. These sounded delicious, but I think maybe the pan size is wrong. Could it be? Mine wouldn't even fit in a 9x9. What did fit was just a gooey mess at 20 minutes bake time.
