I typically enjoy Betty Crocker products, but I wasn't sure that by just adding a few butter, egg, and water to this mix that I could create a good, holiday-worthy gingerbread cookie.
I was wrong! This mix produced, chewy, flavorful cookies and is certainly worth trying. These are definitely a great time saver at such a busy time of year.
My only complaint was that I could not roll out the dough. It was way too sticky, so I had to put away my cute Christmas cookie cutters and stick with drop cookies. I'll just add less water next time.
For some other holiday treats, try some of my previous recipes: Pecan Pie Bars, White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies, and Apple Pie Cookies.
nope, don't really use mixes.. but there was once when i used a mix to make a cake to give to my friend for his birthday and he told me that he found mould on the cake a week later! did i totally gross you out? Hope not.. Merry Christmas!! :)
ReplyDeleteI usually keep the Betty Crocker gingerbread cookie mix in my cupboard for cookie emergencies- I think it's pretty good! I roll it into balls and then roll them in granulated sugar before baking. Last year I took them to a Christmas program and got lots of recipe requests. :) I have rolled it out before, but as I recall I had to use extra flour to make the dough stiff enough. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI really like the Ghirardelli cookie mixes. I sometimes like to pass those cookies off as my own ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a Merry Christmas daaaahling
*kisses* HH
Oh my goodness! I love these cookies, but can no longer find them anywhere. Would you please tell me where you found the mix? I really love the fact that they have a molasses like taste too. The Betty Crocker Cake and Cookie Box Mix doesn't even come close to comparing. I have been searching online trying to find somewhere to buy this mix with no luck. Thanks for your help!
